Plume – Postpartum E-com Store – Migrates to Shopify with Ondigital
Plume was founded in 2020 by Katja Mayer, a mother who, after experiencing the challenges of postpartum recovery herself, saw the need for improved postpartum products. When the standard healthcare recommendations proved both painful and impractical, she discovered the peri bottle—a simple yet effective product that significantly eased the recovery process. This was when she realized a gap in the Swedish market for these types of solutions and decided to bridge it.
Since then, Plume has expanded its product range with additional postpartum items specifically designed to support new mothers during the often challenging early days. Their vision is to create a smoother, more comfortable postpartum experience, allowing mothers to focus on what matters most—cherishing those first moments with their newborns.
Today, Plume is not only an e-commerce platform but also a supportive community for expecting and new mothers seeking advice, tips, and a sense of connection.
Plume needed a more flexible e-commerce platform
To continue growing and developing, Plume needed a more flexible and scalable web platform that allowed for quick improvements and adaptations. A key requirement was that the platform should be able to handle global needs, such as supporting different countries, languages, and currencies.
After hearing positive reviews about Shopify and on the recommendation of previous customers, Plume chose to partner with us at Ondigital to migrate their e-commerce to Shopify. Our goal was to ensure a smooth transition without losing any SEO ranking, while also creating an e-commerce experience optimized for both users and conversions.
We are extremely proud to have earned the trust to lead this project and delivered the new website in just one month
Here's how we helped Plume with a seamless Shopify migration
At Ondigital, we have a clear philosophy when it comes to migrations: it is crucial that the process is smooth and that no organic traffic is lost. SEO, product data enrichment, and conversion optimization are always at the forefront when we migrate an e-commerce platform like Plume to Shopify. We understand how essential these elements are for success in e-commerce and, importantly, advertising. Therefore, planning and preparation are among the most critical parts of the project.
Our first step was to work closely with Katja Mayer to gain a deep understanding of Plume’s needs and visions. This included everything from design preferences to technical features and necessary integrations. We then created a project plan that Katja could follow step by step, maintaining continuous communication throughout the process to ensure everything went according to plan.
We wanted Plume’s new website to be more than just an e-commerce site; it was essential that it reflected the warm and personal service that lies at the heart of their brand. Creating a sense of community was important, while also designing a page that was well-optimized for conversions.
To ensure a successful migration, we managed several aspects
We implemented redirects to ensure that no SEO performance was lost during the transition. This involved redirecting all old URLs to the new ones to maintain and strengthen Plume’s organic traffic.
We migrated the entire product catalog, including product data and reviews, and enriched all products with additional information.
The product pages were designed from scratch with a focus on providing visitors with all the necessary information about each individual product. The pages were filled with detailed descriptions and high-quality images contributed by Katja. This allows customers to make informed decisions and feel the personal care that Plume aims to convey.
Technical Implementation and Integrations
Server-side Tracking: We integrated server-side tracking using both first-party cookies and webhook functionality to collect data from completed purchases in a GDPR-compliant manner. This eliminated the risk of missing important data and enhanced tracking of the customer journey.
Consent Mode v.2: To comply with the latest EU regulations, we also implemented the new Consent Mode v.2, ensuring that data collection adhered to the updated requirements for user privacy.
Upgraded Product Flow: To facilitate Plume’s external suppliers and partners, we implemented our Shopify app “Feedmanager.” This allowed Plume to easily customize their product feeds across all channels and partners.
Results and Future Prospects
With the new Shopify solution in place, Plume now has a solid foundation to continue growing its e-commerce both nationally and globally. The new platform allows for quick and easy optimization of the online store for different markets, providing Plume with the flexibility to tailor its e-commerce experience to local needs and preferences.
We at Ondigital are proud to have earned the trust to work with Plume and look forward to their continued success!
